Project Summary
In late 2024 I was contracted to improve the Onboarding user flow of their application.
Problem
There was clear confusion among new users. Two metrics that highlighted this from the latest cohort were:
- Profile completion: Less than 5% of new users finished setting up their profiles
- First Vote submission: 0% New Users completed the core action of voting
Approach
I conducted user interviews to uncover:
- Users did not understand the impact voting
- Users felt that voting was an unfamiliar behavior
- Users did not want to be presented negatively to the community
I created a few different flows that would focus on three things:
- Concise flow
- Informative on the app community and their role in it
- Importance of the core action (voting) by implementing voting into the onboarding flow
Tested them, and this was the top-performing flow:

- 100% profile completion from new users
- 83% first vote submission in 24 hours of onboarding completion
