Cashbak

A Mass Challenge-backed fintech application. Cashbak was a mobile payment platform for the unbanked to transfer, store, and transact with money all over the world.

Project Summary

CashBak is a mobile payment solution that allows any type of users to send and receive funds quickly and efficiently. Either from a bank or our wallet. Their centralized platform allows for P2P and P2B transactions with a wallet and NFC system. CashBak connects its merchants directly to their consumers through our payment gateway resulting in increased purchasing power for an underserved population.

Our target audience was unbanked populations in third world countries. To get a better understanding of the pain points of these users, I conducted interviews with Afro and Caribbean student groups across 5 different colleges in Rhode Island and Massachusetts . These groups were comprised of international/first-generation students, many of whom came from families that reflected our target audience.

Responsibilities:

I was brought on to redesign their entire MVP. The goal was to make the features more social with additions like:

Initial Design Sketches

Spending a significant amount of time sketching out ideal user flows, with the help of the data from the interviewees. This step helped me create a feature list and find unexpected scenarios.

Final UI Design

Conclusion:

These designs were adapted across to Android as well and the product was seeded with the student groups interviewed. We had crushed our growth objective with a result of 10k users and a MoM growth rate  15% after launch. I left the company to focus on finishing college. The company is now dissolved.
